Amazing experience working with Lavanya and her team for our wedding in Mumbai. The quality of the photos and videos is outstanding and really brings back the happiest memories of our lives! Wedding planning can often be stressful but with Komo studios, we didn’t have to worry about the photos at all. The team was professional, considerate of our needs, and not intrusive all at the same time. My fiancé and I weren’t interested in planning a typical, Indian wedding with the usual traditions and must-dos which also included photography. We had planned the couple of days down to a tee so that it retains only the customs we found meaningful, and it solely remained a true celebration of both our families coming together and our friends. And all of this from outside India which itself was proving to be a monumental task. Not with photography though! The minute we chatted with Lavanya (who was referred to us by a friend in the photography industry), we were convinced we could tick the photography aspect right off our list and hand it over to her. It was a relief. It felt like we were talking to a friend who got us, shared similar interests with us and at the same time was professional and credible enough for us to trust her and leave the documentation of our wedding entirely up to her. Like us, she’s lived outside India for several years, understands our need for keeping safe distance from rather conventional norms during the wedding ceremonies, and yet the balance of keeping both our families happy at the same time! She was an absolute pleasure to work with and was even a defacto bridesmaid to Nitya, my wife now, who kept relying on her for advice, some venting and general ‘shoulder to lean on’ during the hectic wedding ceremony. While covering the wedding she seemed to be everywhere covering all the details at the same time, never tiring and staying until the very end of the night when we were all packing up – just to take that very last shot of us. She was as comfortable chatting with our grandmothers to snapping photos of our friends up close and personal during the reception and cocktails-all with ease. It was a total blast to have her around! If you’re looking for someone to capture timeless, classic photos of yours which will stay true for years to come and stray away from kitschy poses seen one too many times on social media from other photographers, she’s your photographer!
